Cyber-bullying

I think the only way to characterize a profile on its truthfulness is how much does it represent the person. I don't know if this can ever be fully achieved, as most people have a tendency to "fudge" some information to make themselves appear a certain way. In the case of Megan Meier, it was the fault of several people. Lori Drew, the woman that created the fake profile, was trying to see if Megan was spreading rumors about her daughter, and in doing so, drove a girl to kill herself. This paranoid behavior of Drew went way over the edge. I think that the parents have a responsibility to monitor their children. I think the excuse of "you can only be at one place at one time" is not good enough. I thought it was the responsibility of the parents to teach their children common sense so do not believe everything they read. The girl was 13 years old and should be aware of the rampant nonsense that takes place on the internet.
